Platelet Activity and Vascular Health in System Lupus Erythematosus
The purpose of this study is to learn more about how systemic lupus erythematosus (SLE) affects the risk of cardiovascular disease (CVD), (i.e. conditions that affect the heart and blood vessels). SLE is a complicated autoimmune disease that presents a higher risk for premature CVD. An autoimmune disease is a condition in which your immune system, which fights foreign particles such as bacteria, mistakenly attacks your own body. Individuals with SLE are at risk of disease progression, disease complications, and other medical conditions.
Platelet and Endothelial Dysfunction in Psoriasis
The purpose of this study is to investigate blood vessel wall function, platelet (involved in clotting) activity, risk of heart disease measurements, and genetic information (blueprints of your cells) in people with psoriatic disease (an inflammatory skin condition that can impact other parts of the body) and other inflammatory diseases of the skin such as hidradenitis suppurativa (HS). We hope to improve our understanding of the relationship between psoriatic disease, HS, and heart disease to better predict and prevent cardiovascular events.
