Post-operative Immobilization and Physical Therapy Following Volar Locked Plating for Distal Radius Fractures: Are They Necessary?
The purpose of this study is to see if splinting and formal physical therapy are necessary following surgical fixation (immobilization) of distal radius fractures (broken wrist). Currently there is no consensus for post-operative protocol following fixation of distal radius fractures. The decision to splint (late mobilization) and prescribe formal physical therapy vs. not to splint (early mobilization) and use selfguided physical therapy is based on surgeon or institutional preference. The goal of this study is to determine if early mobilization leads to improved outcomes and decreased costs without increasing pain or the loss of hardware fixation.
Post-Organ Transplant Housing Barriers: A Mixed-methods Observational Study of Patients who Received Non-Profit Assistance for Post-Transplant Housing
This study will administer surveys to and conduct interviews with patients who received post-transplant housing assistance from one of four organizations: the Heartfelt Help Foundation, Ava’s Heart, Nora’s Home, and Amy’s House with the primary goal of identifying patient barriers to securing post-transplant housing (e.g., financial, insurance) as well as to identify differences across patient socio-demographics, insurance, and geographic location.

Predicting adenomatous polyps using images of a human tongue
This study evaluates the performance of Gixam in predicting the presence of adenomatous polyps using an image of a human tongue. The Gixam system is intended to provide a prediction for the presence of colorectal adenomas based on images captured of the tongue, which should be followed by a diagnostic colonoscopy and polypectomy as appropriate.
Predicting poor vaccine responders to Hepatitis B vaccination
The purpose of this study is to understand how the immune system learns from the hepatitis B vaccine and why some people do not respond to the vaccine. Approximately 5-50% (5-50 in 100) of people who need hepatitis B vaccine do not develop immunity despite getting three doses of the classic vaccine. The immune system “learns” from a vaccine through the actions and changes to T and B cells (types of cells in your immune system), but there are many details that we do not understand. Understanding how people respond to different versions of the hepatitis B vaccine will help researchers understand how to design better, more effective vaccines.
Prediction of Recurrent Anterior Shoulder Instability Using the On/Off Track Method and 3D MRI: A Clinical Outcomes and Cost-Effectiveness Study
The purpose of this study is to see whether a new imaging-based measurement technique, On/Off Track method, will be able to predict the failure or success of anterior shoulder instability (dislocation) surgery over two years. The On/Off Track method is a technique that uses measurements of bipolar bone loss on MRI to assess the potential for recurrent anterior shoulder instability (dislocation). Patients will be followed for 2 years post-surgery.
