Exhaled and nasal nitric oxide in children and adults with chronic wet cough
The purpose of this study is to see if we can use non-invasive tests called forced exhaled nitric oxide (FeNO) (a reading that we get when you blow into a machine through a mouthpiece) and nasal nitric oxide (nNO) (a number that we get after we place a small tube into your nose ) along with data collected from routine care procedures to differentiate the major causes of chronic wet cough (CWC) in adults and children. The devices that make up the nNO testing system (Eco Physics CLD88 EX, Eco Physics Exhalyzer D, and Eco Physics DENOX 88) are considered experimental because they are not cleared by the US Food and Drug Administration (FDA) for clinical use, but can be used in a research setting. The results from the experimental test are for research purposes only and will not be used to make clinical decisions or impact your care management.
Expanded Access Program for Lorcaserin (Belviq)
The purpose of this extended access program is to provide continued access to lorcaserin for Dravet syndrome and other epilepsy patients who were being treated with lorcaserin before the US Food and Drug Administration (FDA) withdrew approval of the drug and who may have benefited from the treatment. Lorcaserin is not approved by the FDA or any other regulatory agency for any conditions or diseases. As lorcaserin has not been studied in Dravet syndrome or other epilepsies, there is no guarantee that lorcaserin will improve your seizure control.
Expanded Access to ONC201 for Patients with H3 K27M-mutant and/or Midline Gliomas
The purpose of this research study is to provide ONC201 to patients with specific forms of brain cancer who cannot access ONC201 by participating in a clinical trial. ONC201 is a newly discovered compound that may stop cancer cells from growing. This drug has been shown in laboratory experiments to use a new mechanism that induces a stress response to kill brain tumor cells but not normal cells. Information from those other research studies suggests that this agent may help to stop cancer cells from growing. ONC201 is “investigational”, which means that the FDA (the U.S. Food and Drug Administration) has not approved ONC201 as a treatment for this condition, but the FDA has given its permission to test this agent in the current trial.
Exploring spectral and temporal resolution in the apex for speech processor optimization
This study will psychophysically explore the temporal and spectral parameter space in the apex to gain an understanding of the potential capabilities and limitations of apical stimulation. Additionally, we will correlate performance on our psychophysical tasks with performance on a speech in noise task and musical pitch task to determine how temporal and spectral cues relate to clinical performance. A correlation between either temporal or spectral resolution in the apex and clinical performance could be used to both guide future refinements of speech processing strategies as well as clinically predict who would benefit from specific processing strategies. We are looking to enroll patients with a 1.MED-EL cochlear implant.
