Lupus Omics Cutaneous Kidney Investigative Team: Skin Project 1 and Skin Project 2
The purpose of this study is to learn more about the cause of cutaneous lupus erythematosus (CLE) disease, more specifically the way molecules (the smallest particles in a chemical element), cells and DNA appear in CLE patients and the changes that occur in response to treatments. The goal of this study is to increase the number of new diagnostics and therapies for patients and to reduce the time and cost of developing these new treatment options. In CLE, response to therapies is unpredictable in conventional practice. There is a need to better understand the disease in hopes that one day, the approach to diagnosis and treatment will be more personalized. Several different sites will participate in this study. There are 2 parts to this study: Skin Project 1 (SP1) has only 1 study visit. This visit will take about 3 hours to complete; this is the only visit that you will be asked to complete for this part. Skin Project 2 (SP2) has 3 visits over a period of 6 months. These visits will take about 2 hours to complete. All participants will take part in SP1. However, only some participants will take part in SP2. There are certain criteria participants need to meet to take part in SP2.
