Message from the Vaccine Center Director
Ramin S. Herati, MD
Director, NYU Langone Vaccine Center
At NYU Langone’s Vaccine Center, founded in 2018, our mission is to address current and emerging challenges to human health.
Despite substantial medical progress to date, threats to health abound. Through science, we aim to protect and restore human health against these threats.
The Vaccine Center is committed to serving, teaching, discovering, and leading in pursuit of our vision: improving the health of patients and communities—locally and globally—through groundbreaking research in infectious diseases and immunology.
Our goal is to establish the Vaccine Center as an international hub of excellence in basic, translational, and clinical research. We focus on vaccines, antimicrobials, diagnostics, biomarkers, biologics, treatments, and prevention behaviors. Our investigators work across three major research areas: translational science, clinical studies, and public policy. Specifically, we study the intersection of the immune system and inflammation in relation to infectious diseases, cancer, autoimmunity, and chronic conditions. By unlocking insights into the immune system’s functions, we hope to uncover the blueprint for better health.
Despite progress, many challenges remain in the 21st century.
I am delighted to be part of this critical effort that has the potential to impact the health of people worldwide.
