Pharmacy Technician Training Program Admissions & Costs

Admission to the NYU Langone Health Pharmacy Technician Training Program is highly competitive and selective. Please review the following requirements carefully; we do not review incomplete applications.

Application Requirements

Applicants must also be at least 18 years old when they apply. They must submit these items to be considered:

  • a completed application, including a resume and personal essay (minimum 250 words)
  • high school transcript or GED scores (all foreign credentials must be submitted directly via a recognized evaluation agency)
  • two references from current or former employers or teachers
  • the most recent annual performance evaluation (current NYU Langone employees only)

Selection and Interview

Meeting the initial criteria does not guarantee admission. Our selection follows a tiered process:

  • initial review: the Admissions Committee reviews all completed applications
  • the interview: selected candidates are invited to interview with the committee (an invitation to interview is a step in the evaluation process and does not signify immediate acceptance into the program)
  • entrance exams: during the interview, applicants must complete two proficiency exams, in basic mathematics and grammar and vocabulary

Post-Selection Requirements

If an applicant is selected for admission, enrollment is contingent upon successfully obtaining medical clearance and undergoing a background check.

We will not consider applicants whose applications were missing information or were uploaded after the deadline.

Program Costs

There is no charge for the program.

Upon successful completion of the program, candidates must pay a registration fee to take the Pharmacy Technician Certification Exam (PTCE). An additional registration fee is required by the New York State Education Department.
