Community Building for Diversity & Inclusion

At NYU Grossman School of Medicine, we support a broad range of community-building activities for all students, especially immigrants and those who are underserved or underrepresented in medicine. Our initiatives aim to reduce health disparities, develop a diverse and inclusive healthcare workforce, and enable NYU Langone to embrace and reflect the rich diversity of the city and communities it serves.

The Office of Diversity Affairs hosts an annual reception at the beginning of each academic year to welcome new students to NYU Grossman School of Medicine's community and welcome back returning students. Community building is supported throughout the year through one-on-one intake meetings with all first-year medical students, special preclerkship meetings for first- and second-year students respectively, and regular coffee hours and listening sessions to encourage students to share experiences throughout medical school.

We work and collaborate with all students and groups. Some of our community groups include the Black and Latinx Students’ Association, LGBTQMed, and the Student Diversity Initiative.
