Summer Research Fellowship Program

The Department of Population Health will be offering up to 5 paid fellowships for first year NYU medical students. The positions will be Research Assistants within the Department of Population Health (including the Divisions of Health and Behavior, Healthcare Delivery Science, Comparative Effectiveness and Decision Science, Epidemiology, Biostatistics, and Medical Ethics) and each student will work with a dedicated faculty advisor on a rigorous and scholarly research project. The student is expected to complete a project and present their work at the Department of Population Health Research in Progress Seminar.

Application Instructions: NYU medical students who wish to apply for the fellowship should review the listing of all available projects. Once the student has identified a project in which they are interested, the student should meet with the faculty advisor and submit a fellowship application (see below for downloadable application form).

All applications should be emailed to both Dr. Mark Schwartz and Kathryn Nyland as a PDF document by February 17, 2017. Applications will be reviewed by the Department of Population Health Fellowship Committee and up to 5 fellowships will be awarded, with notification by March 17, 2017. All students who are admitted to the fellowship will be given a stipend through the Department of Population Health. If a student is work study eligible, the Department of Population Health will provide the additional funding required; if a student is NOT work study eligible, the Department will fully fund the students work for the summer.

We hope you find this opportunity as exciting as we do and look forward to working with you to arrange for an educationally challenging and rewarding research experience. If you have any questions, please do not hesitate to contact either one of us.
