Health And… Racial Equity and Urban Well-Being

Our Health And… Racial Equity and Urban Well-Being conference on May 22, 2017, brought together health and housing officials, population health researchers, and community leaders to discuss how we can expand approaches that healthcare and public health might adopt in partnership with other sectors to advance racial justice, equity, and well-being in urban settings.

The day included a keynote from Mary Bassett, MD, MPH, commissioner of the New York City Department of Health & Mental Hygiene and a plenary from Tom Frieden, MD, MPH, former director of the Center for Disease Control and Prevention. Read and watch coverage of the conference and access the agenda with speaker information and presentations is now available.

The Health And... Series

With the goal of translating research into action to improve urban population health, the “Health And…” Conference series brings together leading investigators, policymakers, practitioners, and community leaders who work at the intersection of health and its many determinants. Throughout the day, we highlight the latest findings, identify front-line innovations, develop pressing questions to investigate, and define promising policies and partnerships in order to advance population health and health equity.

Our first conference, Health And...Place, Education, Healthcare, was held on April 11, 2016, at NYU Langone Medical Center.
