Clinicians, researchers, and teaching faculty in NYU Langone’s Department of Psychiatry work at several affiliated facilities and institutions.

Kirby Forensic Psychiatric Center

Providers at the Kirby Forensic Psychiatric Center, a 200-bed maximum security forensic hospital of the New York State Office of Mental Health (OMH), care for and evaluate patients involuntarily committed under New York criminal law and civil patients involuntarily committed and found to be dangerous and unmanageable in other state facilities.

NYC Health + Hospitals/Bellevue

NYC Health + Hospitals/Bellevue has approximately 330 beds for inpatient acute psychiatry needs. Physicians provide a full range of treatment programs, including general psychiatry and various specialty services, including substance use disorders, geriatric, child and adolescent, forensic, and consultation–liaison services.

Outpatient mental health services include psychiatric evaluation, geriatric psychiatry, acute and continuing substance use disorder treatment, and forensic psychiatry. Outpatient services are offered to anyone in need of mental health treatment through the general clinic.

NYC Health + Hospitals/Gouverneur

NYC Health + Hospitals/Gouverneur has a skilled nursing and rehabilitation facility that offers a diverse range of behavioral health services for children, adults, and seniors, including emergency psychiatric services, treatment for mental illness, and care for people recovering from alcoholism or chemical dependency.

NYC Health + Hospitals/Woodhull

NYC Health + Hospitals/Woodhull offers inpatient mental health services that include 135 acute inpatient psychiatric beds and 38 medically managed detox beds. Its many outpatient mental health services include an adult clinic, a child and adolescent clinic, a chemical dependency clinic, an assertive community treatment program, an around-the-clock psychiatric emergency service, a mobile crisis service, and an assisted outpatient treatment program in compliance with Kendra’s Law.

Manhattan Psychiatric Center

Doctors at Manhattan Psychiatric Center, an OMH facility, offer inpatient and outpatient treatment for adults who have persistent mental illness and provide care to nearly 360 inpatients requiring intermediate- or long-term hospital treatment.

The Nathan S. Kline Institute for Psychiatric Research

The Nathan S. Kline Institute for Psychiatric Research is an OMH facility at which interdisciplinary teams of distinguished scientists apply their talents and expertise to study the etiology, treatment, prevention, and rehabilitation for Alzheimer's disease, schizophrenia, and major mental and behavioral health conditions.

NYU Student Health Center

Providers at the NYU Student Health Center offer counseling and behavioral health services for students enrolled in NYU academic programs. Short-term individual counseling, group counseling, self-improvement classes, referrals, and psychiatric medication services are available.

Psychoanalytic Association of New York

Psychoanalytic Association of New York (PANY) has trained mental health professionals in the theory and practice of psychoanalysis for more than 50 years. Its training programs produce clinicians who are confident, capable, and caring practitioners. PANY also offers affordable psychotherapy and psychoanalysis for adults and children.

Rockland Psychiatric Center

Physicians at Rockland Psychiatric Center, a 410-bed OMH facility, provide treatment and stabilization for people whose mental illness requires hospitalization, with the goal of preparing patients for return to the community. Intermediate and extended inpatient treatment is available for patients who have severe and persistent psychiatric illnesses, such as schizophrenia, and dual diagnosis.

Outpatient mental health services are provided through a residential care facility for adults and a state-operated community residence on campus. In addition, Rockland Psychiatric Center provides varying levels of community-based mental health services in Rockland, Westchester, Orange, and Sullivan Counties and a specialized statewide service for people who are deaf and mentally ill.

St. Francis Friends of the Poor

St. Francis Friends of the Poor, a nonprofit organization of Catholic Charities, offers permanent housing with supportive services for the homeless, mentally ill population—an award-winning model for programs all over the country. Three highly supervised St. Francis Residences serve almost 300 men and women who have severe and persistent mental illnesses.

VA NY Harbor Healthcare System

The Manhattan campus of the VA NY Harbor Healthcare System is a tertiary care facility and a referral center in several specialized areas including psychiatry. Inpatient mental health services are available for acute psychiatry needs. Outpatient mental health services are offered to veterans who have a history of mental illness to help them function in the community to the best of their ability. Social work counseling services for drug, alcohol, and emotional problems are also available.
