Giannarelli Lab

We study the immune mechanism of atherosclerosis and its therapy in animal models and translational clinical study.

In the Giannarelli Lab at NYU Grossman School of Medicine, our goal is to understand how immune cells contribute to human vascular disease. A main focus of our current studies is revealing the heterogeneity of immune cells in human atherosclerotic lesions and how these cells contribute to vascular pathology. We are interested in understanding changes in the gene and protein expression of individual immune cells in healthy and diseased vasculature and in blood.

Our team pioneered the use of single-cell technologies to study human atherosclerosis, a first step towards the ultimate goal of building a single-cell immune atlas of human atherosclerosis.
