Sigurdsson Lab
Research in the Sigurdsson Laboratory focuses on pathogenesis, treatment and diagnosis of age-related degenerative diseases, in particular Alzheimer’s disease (AD) and, more recently, Parkinson's disease and related synucleinopathies. In these protein conformational disorders, a normal protein is converted to a pathological form with high beta-sheet content. The scientific theme of the laboratory involves clarifying this pathological process, its consequences at the molecular- and functional levels, and how best to diagnose and prevent it.
Opportunities
Recent Ph.D. graduates with expertise in protein conformational disorders and/or immunology are encouraged to contact us to inquire about postdoctoral opportunities.
