Eye Imaging Research
We invent light-based technologies to measure retina and optic nerve structure and function, as well as detect disease, in the living eye. We have developed methods of retinal imaging which are implemented in commercial clinical ophthalmic imaging systems today. We have demonstrated advanced imaging systems that resolved the finest retinal layers in living subjects for the first time. We are currently using these technologies to explore aging and biomarkers for dry age-related macular degeneration, for which there are now a number of promising treatments.
