Ruth L. Kirschstein National Research Service Award (NRSA) Fellowships

Our MD/PhD students have received the Ruth L. Kirschstein National Research Service Award Individual Fellowship for Students at Institutions with NIH–Funded Institutional Predoctoral Dual-Degree Training Programs (F30) and Ruth L. Kirschstein National Research Service Award Individual Predoctoral Fellowship (F31).

Alpha Omega Alpha National Honor Society Inductees

Several of our MD/PhD students have been welcomed into the Alpha Omega Alpha national honor medical society. Members are elected based not only on high academic standing but also on their leadership among their peers, sense of ethics and professionalism, commitment to service in the community, and dedication to the art of healing. Our 2025 inductees are MacIntosh Cornwell, Juan Andres Kochen Rossi, Ravi Pancholi, and Marisol Soula.

American Epilepsy Society Fellowship

The American Epilepsy Society (AES) is dedicated to the understanding, diagnosis, study, prevention, treatment, and cure of epilepsy. It is one of the largest non-governmental funders for people starting careers in epilepsy research. The AES Predoctoral Research Fellowships support predoctoral students who are pursuing dissertation research with an epilepsy-relevant theme, and who are working under the guidance of a mentor with expertise in epilepsy research. James Sun is our most recent recipient.

MD/PhD Vilcek Scholars

The Vilcek Scholarship is a merit-based scholarship created with a gift from Jan Vilcek, MD, PhD, and Marica Vilcek. This scholarship supports selected students with a stipend, fringe benefits, and fees for two years while in the graduate school portion of MD/PhD training. This is an honor to be recognized throughout the recipients’ career.

NYU Grossman School of Medicine MD/PhD Program Scholar

Our MD/PhD Scholar Award is a merit-based scholarship that supports selected students with a stipend, fringe benefits, and fees for two years while in the graduate school portion of training. Liana Goehring is the 2022 recipient and will be supported from 2022 to 2024.

Hearst Foundation Scholarship

The Hearst Foundation MD/PhD fellowship training endowment supports selected students with a stipend, fringe benefits, and fees in the graduate school portion of training. The selection process is based on students’ evidence of strong intellectual achievement in medical school, creativity, and depth in the pursuit of their graduate research. MacIntosh Cornwell, 2020–22, is our most recent recipient of this scholarship.
