Reduction in spread of excitation as predictor of multi-channel spectral resolution
The purpose of this research study is to understand performance with a cochlear implant. The long term goals of this research are to improve sound perception with cochlear implants and to better understand the functioning of the auditory system. Some cochlear implant users may be asked to wear take home sound processors containing software that is not FDA approved. Data from individuals with and without cochlear implants will be compared. If you volunteer to participate in this study, you will be asked to listen to sounds delivered either acoustically or through your implant. After listening to the sounds, you will be asked to register your judgments orally, on a response box or on a computer screen. If you have a cochlear implant, we may use an electrode in your cochlear implant array to record neural responses.
