Studies of Traumatic Stress Neurodevelopment in the Emotional Brain Institute

The Emotional Brain Institute, in affiliation with the Nathan Kline Institute, has an extensive program on the effect of maltreatment on brain development through carefully designed animal studies. Directed by Regina Sullivan, this program has established a widely accepted animal model of child maltreatment and – with this model – is able to study the impact of child abuse and neglect on the developing brain. The integration of this research within the extensive clinical, interventions, and services system approach to child maltreatment conducted within the CSTR enables an unprecedented translations research pipeline focused on this devastating clinical and public health problem.
