Pediatric Dermatology Residency Track

The Pediatric Dermatology Residency Track at NYU Grossman School of Medicine offers a unique training pathway. Qualified applicants are matched into a training program that includes a postgraduate year one (PGY-1) pediatric preliminary year and dermatology residency position from postgraduate years two to four. This track provides trainees with structured mentorship in pediatric dermatology, enhancing their clinical, leadership, and research skills. Our goal is to train future leaders within the field of pediatric dermatology.

Program Details

PGY-1 internship consists of 12 months of training as part of NYU Grossman School of Medicine’s Pediatrics Residency. Within the intern year, candidates receive structured mentorship and elective and continuity clinic opportunities within pediatric dermatology. Candidates then complete their PGY-2 through PGY-4 as part of the Dermatology Residency. Dermatology residents within the track will be able to attend national pediatric dermatology meetings, participate in pediatric-focused dermatologic research, and partake in a pediatric dermatology continuity clinic throughout all three years. The goal of this track is to complement and not replace a post–dermatology residency pediatric dermatology fellowship. Therefore, candidates will not be pediatric dermatology board-eligible upon track completion.

The Pediatric Dermatology Residency Track is overseen by NYU Langone’s Ronald O. Perelman Department of Dermatology.

Who Should Apply?

Successful applicants are those who envision pursuing a career in pediatric dermatology followed by a pediatric dermatology fellowship upon completion of their dermatology residency. We encourage applicants to highlight their commitment to the field of pediatrics through volunteerism, research, or clinical experiences. Additionally, applicants who have completed their MD degree can apply.
