Fostering the connection between basic and clinical neuroscience is a major goal of NYU Langone’s Department of Neurosurgery. We maintain a wide range of research programs, from pure laboratory investigations to clinical trials. Underpinning our translational research efforts is a strong emphasis on the principles and methodologies of fundamental neuroscience. Accordingly, Department of Neurosurgery investigators hold joint appointments in basic science departments, or maintain close collaborative ties with Vilcek Institute of Graduate Biomedical Sciences investigators.
