Leaders in the Department of Psychiatry at NYU Grossman School of Medicine are committed to meaningful action toward equitable patient care, educational environments, and workplace opportunities. We believe that inclusive and respectful culture is critical to our ability to meet the ambitious goals in research, training, and innovative care that we hold for ourselves and that our patients require.

The department benefits tremendously from a highly diverse membership and continuous work to learn and develop as equitable and inclusive faculty, staff, and learners.

We are guided in this work by the principles of empathy, excellence, and equity integrated into all critical departmental functions and in diversity- and health equity–specific initiatives that are led by the Department of Psychiatry Health Equity Committee. The committee works closely with NYU Grossman School of Medicine’s Office of Diversity Affairs and Institute for Excellence in Health Equity.
