Gold Humanism Honor Society Chooses NYULMC to Pilot Program for Residents

Chief residents on Awards Day, 2012

The Gold Humanism Honor Society (GHHS) has chosen the New York University Langone Medical Center (NYULMC) to pilot a program that extends the GHHS to residents. NYULMC is one of just 10 schools nation-wide chosen for this pilot.

The GHHS currently has more than 100 student chapters within medical schools throughout the United States and Canada. The core values of the Gold Foundation are integrity, excellence, altruism, compassion, respect, empathy and service.

The NYULMC resident chapter will align with NYULMC Graduate Medical Education Programs to honor residents, fellows and role-model faculty who exemplify humanism and professionalism in medicine. Chapter members will be chosen via a competitive nomination process that will involve NYUMC's Graduate Medical Education Programs, peers and students.

Once organized, the chapter will work with a oversight group of faculty to develop methods to promote and acknowledge humanism and professionalism in NYUMC's more than 1,100 residents and fellows.
