Humanistic Medicine Program
The Humanistic Medicine Program at NYU Grossman School of Medicine promotes inquiry and scholarship at the intersection of medicine and the arts, humanities, bioethics, and social sciences. We provide extracurricular opportunities for medical students—and the larger NYU Langone community—to pursue creative and intellectual interests. We also integrate humanities values into the medical school curriculum.
Our program fosters well-rounded students who have insight into the human condition to become engaged and reflective physicians. The Humanistic Medicine Program consists of noncredit interdisciplinary seminars and workshops; summer and year-long research fellowship opportunities; Agora, an arts and literature magazine; mock clinical ethics workshops; and collaborations with community organizations.
Students engage with the program while fulfilling their other medical school commitments. Most events are open to all members of the NYU community, allowing for interprofessional collaboration.
