Research and Clinical Interests

The lab investigates the molecular mechanisms of M. tb pathogenesis during HIV infection. A clear understanding of M. tb pathogenesis will help us design novel interventions to control TB in M. tb-HIV co-infected individuals. Since M. tb alters expression of genes/proteins to adapt to the various environments that it encounters, we focus on defining the role of M. tb genes/proteins expressed during HIV infection to gain insight into the mechanisms of TB pathogenesis.
