NYU-CUNY Prevention Research Center

The NYU-CUNY Prevention Research Center (NYU-CUNY PRC) was established in 2014 to advance translation of evidence-based and innovative programs to increase access to care and disrupt the cycle of health disparities among hard-to-reach, socially disadvantaged populations. Its research studies are based in NYU Langone’s Department of Population Health and at the City University of New York (CUNY) Graduate School of Public Health and Health Policy.

The NYU-CUNY PRC’s core research agenda is to design, study, and disseminate innovative combinations of community- and clinic-based interventions for improved linkage to preventive care and chronic disease prevention and management.

Our core research projects include technical assistance and program evaluations of the New York City Health Justice Network (NYC HJN) and the Harlem Health Advocacy Partners (HHAP) Program; and conducting community trials, including Implementing Million Hearts for Provider and Community Transformation (Project IMPACT) and Reaching Immigrants through Community Empowerment (Project RICE).

Beyond core research, we conduct various affiliated and special interest projects (SIPs), which focus on a topic of interest or a gap in scientific evidence, with colleagues across CUNY and NYU—including our partners at the CUNY Center for Systems and Community Design and NYU Center for the Study of Asian American Health.
