Giannarelli Lab investigators study how T-cell heterogeneity and T-cell plasticity in atherosclerotic plaques contributes to plaque vulnerability and cardiovascular events in patients.

We focus on CD8+ T-cell biology in atherosclerosis, combining single-cell studies in human tissue with CRISPR/Cas9 screens with sophisticated mouse models of atherosclerosis.

Other projects focus on CD4 and other T-cell types and functional states found in human plaques.
