Hu Lab

We create and test culturally-tailored mobile health programs to improve outcomes in immigrant communities.

Welcome to the Hu Lab. We are based at the Center for Healthful Behavior Change in the Department of Population Health at NYU Langone. Our research mission is to reduce health disparities and improve health outcomes among low-income immigrant communities in the United States. To achieve this goal, our research focuses on developing and testing low-cost culturally and linguistically tailored mobile health programs to increase access to care and support chronic disease management in underserved populations.

Lab News and Announcements

The American Diabetes Association has awarded Lu Hu, Phd, three honors—the 2021 Young Investigator Award, the Women’s Interprofessional Network of the ADA’s 2021 Abstract Award, and the 2021 Diabetes Education Abstract Award. These awards acknowledge promising early researchers in the field of diabetes research, education, and clinical care. Dr. Hu is being recognized for her significant efforts in using novel approaches to increase access to evidence-based diabetes education programs in underserved low-income communities. The awards will be presented during the ADA’s 81st Scientific Sessions conference, occurring virtually from June 25 through 29.

We are also excited to share that our research intern, Nancy Xu, will attend the graduate Program in Nutrition at Teachers College, Columbia University, beginning this fall to pursue an integrated MS-RDN degree. Nancy graduated from NYU in 2020 with a BS in nutrition and dietetics.
