Center for Healthful Behavior Change
Adopting and maintaining healthful behavior is a core component of preventing and managing rates of chronic disease, which are rising in the United States and abroad, especially among minority populations.
At the Center for Healthful Behavior Change in NYU Langone’s Department of Population Health, we work in communities that are not historically well connected to the healthcare system to translate evidence-based research into strategies to encourage healthful behavior change. By connecting our research and clinical care with communities in New York City and around the world, our goal is to reduce health disparities in cancer, cardiovascular disease, neurological disorders, sleep disorders, and other chronic conditions.
Vision and Mission
- to develop, test, evaluate, and disseminate innovative behavioral interventions in clinical practice and community-based settings
- to promote education and training in translational behavioral medicine research by building a diverse group of underrepresented minority investigators
- to develop and serve as a resource for conceptual, theoretical, and applied models of health behavior change through multidisciplinary collaboration
