Division of Comparative Medicine

By providing exemplary veterinary care for animals used in research at NYU Langone, the Division of Comparative Medicine enables our investigators to conduct pioneering biomedical studies. The resulting discoveries advance medical, biomedical, and veterinary knowledge, which we use to create new methods of improving the health and wellbeing of people in New York and beyond.

Our veterinarians specialize in managing the health and welfare of research animals and are certified by the American College of Laboratory Animal Medicine. NYU Langone Health is certified by the Association for Assessment and Accreditation of Laboratory Animal Care International, ensuring that guidelines for humane animal research are met. We work in partnership with NYU Langone’s Institutional Animal Care and Use Committee and comply with the National Institutes of Health’s “Public Health Service Policy on Humane Care and Use of Laboratory Animals,” the National Research Council of the National Academy of Sciences’ Guide for the Care and Use of Laboratory Animals, and the U.S. Department of Agriculture’s “Animal Welfare Act and Animal Welfare Regulations.”
