September 25, 2009

On December 1, 2009, Elsevier Publishing will release the latest of Dr. Samir Taneja’s textbook entitled Complications of Urologic Surgery: Prevention and Diagnosis (4th Edition). Dr. Taneja served as a co-editor of the last edition, and is the sole editor of the current version. Due to the tremendous popularity of the previous edition, the text will be released as a part of the Elsevier Master’s series with a print and online version accompanied by an online study guide. The textbook is a comprehensive reference on the diagnosis, prevention, and management of most complications occurring in urologic surgery and non-surgical therapies. The new edition includes a number of new chapters on minimally invasive surgery, robotic surgery, and complications of commonly employed medical devices in urologic surgery written by a number of invited experts in the field. Dr. Taneja himself wrote the chapters on Complications of Radical Prostatectomy, Complications of Partial Nephrectomy, Complications of Urinary Conduit Surgery, Complications of Intravesical Chemotherapy, and Hematologic Complications of Urologic Surgery.

The previous edition, released in 2000, has been extremely popular as a reference for urologists in training, practicing urologists, and those seeking guidance on the management of complications they may not have previously seen. It ranks among the top five best-selling textbooks in American urology during its period of print.
