Patient Care

Message to Patients

Welcome to NYU Langone Health. We in the Department of Anesthesiology, Perioperative Care and Pain Medicine/NYU Anesthesia Associates wish to make your stay as comfortable as possible.

During your surgery, you will be given medication to enable the surgeon to operate. Your anesthesiologist is a faculty member in the Department of Anesthesiology, Perioperative Care and Pain Medicine at NYU School of Medicine and on the staff at NYU Langone Health.

NYU Anesthesia Associates is participating in Medicare, Medicaid and many managed care plans. You may view the insurance plans in which we participate at this link: Participating Insurance Plans, then clicking on Patient Care. Once there, click “on this list” in the third paragraph to view the most updated list. If you have additional questions regarding our participating insurance plans, you may contact NYU toll-free at (877) 648-2964, prior to surgery. In cases where NYU Anesthesia Associates does not participate in your insurance plan, but NYU Langone Health and your surgeon do participate, we have found that many insurers will still cover the anesthesiologist’s bill in full.

We recommend you contact your insurance company regarding their coverage for anesthesia, prior to your service being rendered. You will be liable for the amount your insurance carrier has determined to be your responsibility, whether or not we participate with them. These may be your co-insurance, deductible or co-pay amounts.

Prior to your surgery, your surgeon might request a consult with Pre-Admission Testing. After your operation, another anesthesiologist or Nurse Practitioner may visit you to manage any discomfort you might be experiencing. You may receive bills for these services also.

We would like your visit to NYU Langone Health to be as positive an experience as possible and are hopeful that we can contribute to helping you.
