CAMS Minor Requirements

In order to complete the CAMS minor, students must take 5 courses/18 credits. At least three of these courses must be selected from the CAMS department, one of which must be CAMS-UA 101 Child and Adolescent Psychopathology. The remaining two courses can either be CAMS courses or approved non-departmental courses. Courses taken for the CAMS minor cannot be applied to another major or minor (i.e. no "double-dipping" is allowed).

If you are an NYU student enrolled in the College of Arts and Science, please contact cams@nyumc.org to declare the minor.

If you are an NYU student enrolled in a school other than the College of Arts and Science, please declare the minor via the Cross-School Minor Application on Albert.

Psychology & Social Work Majors

Psychology majors and Social Work majors  may use one course toward both the minor and their major (i.e. "double-dipping" is allowed for one course).

For example, if a Psychology student uses a CAMS course toward their Psychology major, they can not use a Psychology course toward their CAMS minor. Alternatively, if the Psychology student chooses to use a Psychology course toward their CAMS minor, they can not use a CAMS course toward their major. The same scenario applies to Social Work majors and Social Work courses.

Nursing Students

Nursing students can count PSYCH-UA 1 Introduction to Psychology and APSY-UE 1271 Developmental Psychology Across the Lifespan toward both the minor and their major.  Therefore, in order to complete the minor, students must take an additional 3 courses selected in the CAMS department, one of which must be CAMS-UA 101 Child and Adolescent Psychopathology.
