Division of Hematology & Medical Oncology | NYU Langone Health

Division of Hematology & Medical Oncology

We advance education, research, and clinical care in hematology and oncology.

The Division of Hematology and Medical Oncology, part of NYU Langone Health’s Department of Medicine, is a major clinical arm of Perlmutter Cancer Center, a National Cancer Institute–designated Comprehensive Cancer Center. The division is composed of physicians, scientists, and educators who provide compassionate care for all patients, regardless of means. We also conduct innovative research aimed at preventing, diagnosing, and improving outcomes in people with cancer and blood disorders. Our members train the hematologists and medical oncologists of tomorrow through a fellowship training program approved by the Accreditation Council for Graduate Medical Education.

Division members, organized into multidisciplinary groups, have a wide range of expertise in the conditions and diseases we treat. In this way, we are able to provide individualized, comprehensive care to our patients, who we serve at multiple locations, including Perlmutter Cancer Center’s 34th Street and 38th Street locations, NYC Health + Hospitals Bellevue, and VA NY Harbor Healthcare System. We also offer care through a wide network of community-based cancer centers in Brooklyn, Queens, and Long Island.

At Perlmutter Cancer Center, our researchers translate promising laboratory discoveries into pioneering clinical trials. Our philosophy of moving from bench to bedside, and vice versa, allows us to ask clinically relevant questions that can directly benefit our patients. We also study the patterns, causes, and control of cancer in diverse populations, and provide education and outreach to healthcare professionals and the community. Our members are nationally and internationally recognized for conducting innovative clinical trials and remaining in the vanguard of our field.

Our fellowship program produces well-rounded trainees in hematology and medical oncology. We emphasize mentorship and integration of clinical and laboratory research into the three-year accredited training program. Our trainees receive exposure to a large number of disease diagnoses and various healthcare delivery systems through rotations at Perlmutter Cancer Center, Bellevue, and the VA NY Harbor Healthcare System’s Manhattan location.
