Neurophotonics Laboratory
The Neurophotonics Laboratory, led by Vivek J. Srinivasan, PhD, in NYU Langone’s Department of Ophthalmology develops new light-based technologies to non-invasively see the structure and function of living biological tissues, deep below the surface. Never satisfied with just a proof-of-principle, Dr. Srinivasan and his team actively collaborate with clinicians and other scientists to optimize and apply these technologies to solve problems in biomedical research. Right now, the team studies vision in aging and age-related macular degeneration through retinal imaging, and also characterizes human brain signals non-invasively.
The Neurophotonics Laboratory is housed in the Tech4Health Institute, NYU Langone’s research and development hub for new biomedical instruments and technologies, which also supports and enhances the laboratory’s mission.
