Orthopedic Surgery Medical Student Education
The Department of Orthopedic Surgery at NYU Langone prides itself on the education and training provided to medical students who choose to rotate with our program. Students from medical schools throughout the United States participate in our elective course and summer externship program and gain experience in the following areas:
- obtaining medical histories and conducting physical exams for patients with musculoskeletal conditions
- learning to evaluate and interpret musculoskeletal imaging modalities
- basic splinting and casting techniques
- fracture fixation techniques
- administering orthopedic care in an acute setting
- operative treatment of common orthopedic conditions
- patient safety and quality in the orthopedic setting
- professionalism and communications in the orthopedic setting
Orthopedic Surgery Club
The Orthopedic Surgery Club provides opportunities for NYU Grossman School of Medicine students to learn about and actively engage in the field through lectures, connections with mentors, and hands-on skills workshops and activities.
