Orthopedic Surgery Residency Admissions

The deadline for applications to the residency program in NYU Langone’s Department of Orthopedic Surgery is November 1 of the academic year prior to the anticipated start of your residency training. We offer interviews to approximately 84 applicants.

How to Apply

Applications for entry at the residency year-one level are processed through the Electronic Residency Application Service® (ERAS®).

For application materials and detailed instructions on the ERAS® application process, please contact the dean’s office at your medical school. Please also review pertinent information from ERAS® and, if applicable, the Educational Commission for Foreign Medical Graduates® (ECFMG®).

Residency Application Requirements

When applying to our orthopedic surgery residency program, please submit the following items through ERAS® along with your application:

  • medical school transcript
  • dean’s letter
  • three letters of recommendation, at least one of which is from a member of the applicant’s orthopedic faculty
  • U.S. Medical Licensing Examination® (USMLE®) Step 1 scores
  • a personal statement detailing why you are interested in pursuing a career in orthopedic surgery and the reason you are interested specifically in our residency program

The ERAS® system automatically sends you a confirmation email when your application and supporting documents have been received. Please do not call our office to confirm the receipt of your documents.
