About the Department of Otolaryngology—Head & Neck Surgery

The history of NYU Langone Health’s Department of Otolaryngology—Head and Neck Surgery dates back more than a century, with roots in the laryngology and otology departments at what are now known as NYU Grossman School of Medicine and NYC Health + Hospitals/Bellevue in the late 1800s. The two hospitals merged in 1898, and the departments merged into a single Department of Otolaryngology in 1933.
