Diagnostic Immunology & Serology Services

NYU Langone’s expansive diagnostic immunology and serology testing menu includes antibodies and infectious agents as well as autoantibodies.

Diagnostic immunology and serology services are performed in the clinical chemistry laboratory using immunochemistry analyzers and also in the serology section of the microbiology laboratory. Tests performed in the chemistry laboratory include hepatitis markers, HIV screening, and COVID-19 IgG antibodies.

The serology laboratory performs antibodies to Borrelia burgdorferi (Lyme), screening with reflex to western blots, syphilis antibodies, QuantiFERON Plus, aspergillus galactomannan antigen, mycoplasma pneumoniae, HSV1&2 antibodies, MMR, and others.

In addition, we test antinuclear antibodies by enzyme immune assays as well as by indirect fluorescence (IFA), and individual antibodies to nuclear antigens, anticardiolipin antibodies, and anti-neutrophilic cytoplasmic antibodies.

Turnaround Time

Tests are performed on different schedules: some are done daily and others are done a few times a week.

The routine timeframe for turnaround is one to three days.
