Health Career Opportunity Program Application
Candidates who are at least 18 years old, including high school and college students and recent college graduates, are invited to apply to the Health Career Opportunity Program at NYU Langone’s Rusk Rehabilitation.
Admission to our program is highly selective. Application materials must be submitted and postmarked by December 18, 2020. As we always receive a large number of applications, the earlier you submit your materials, the better your chances for acceptance into the program.
Accepted candidates are notified by email in early March. Your emailed acceptance letter includes information about the internship specialties you are assigned to, the location you should report to on your first day, and an employee health form that you must complete before you begin our program. Your employee health form must be signed by a physician or nurse practitioner. Anyone with an incomplete employee health form is dismissed from the program.
Candidates who are not accepted into our program are notified by email in early April. All correspondence, including acceptance and non-acceptance letters, is conducted over email. Please provide us with an email address that you check regularly.
We require a minimum cumulative grade point average of 3.2 for acceptance into the program. Your application must include the following:
- a completed online application and a completed two-page hard copy application
- a personal statement, either one single-spaced page or two double-spaced pages
- your transcript, either official or unofficial
High school seniors must send their most recent grades with their applications. College freshmen must send their high school transcript with their applications, and then their first semester grades once those are available. Transcripts must be included with your application materials. Please do not have your school mail us an official transcript separately.
We ask that you mail us the hard copy application form, personal statement, and transcript in that precise order, and that you neither fold nor staple anything. Please glue a recent photograph of yourself in the lower right corner of your completed hard copy application form. Our mailing address is at the top of the hard copy application form.
You may also include resumes and recommendation letters, but these are optional and should be included after your transcript in your completed application packet. Please do not open sealed recommendation letters. If your recommendation letter can only be mailed directly to us, please note on top of your hard copy application form that a letter of recommendation is being mailed separately.
We cannot consider applications with missing information or those postmarked after the deadline.
If you have any questions, please email us at firstname.lastname@example.org.
