Brainstem reflexes in FD

Status: Recruiting

Brainstem Reflexes in Patients with Familial Dysautonomia: Several distinctive clinical features of familial dysautonomia suggest a developmental deficit in the brainstem reflex pathways. In collaboration with Dr. Joel Gutiérrez, the aim of this study is to characterize the neurophysiological profile of brainstem reflexes in FD. Using electophysiological techniques, we are examining sensory and motor trigeminal tracts to determine whether the congenital mutation of IKAP affects the development of pathways in the brainstem.

Eligibility: The study is open to people with familial dysautonomia age 12 and older.
