Letter from the Chairman

Welcome to the Department of Ophthalmology Residency training program at NYU Langone Medical Center! We are excited that you are interested in learning more about our program. Our residency program is designed with the needs of the resident physician ophthalmologist in mind, and we take interest not only in your training but also in your future. The twenty-one residents at NYULMC work as a team, with supporting staff and physicians available around-the-clock to assist the residents with patients and ophthalmologic education.

Our program is a center for excellence in Glaucoma, Cataract/Anterior Segment, Cornea, Neuro-Ophthalmology, Ophthalmic Plastic Surgery, Medical and Surgical therapies for Retinal Disease, and Pediatric Ophthalmology and Strabismus. Many of the pioneering treatments for the management of eye diseases were discovered and studied at our institution, and our aggressive growth into the future technologies continues.

As the Chair of the department, I take great pride in our Ophthalmology Residency program here at NYU Langone. We are working towards revitalizing the program and expanding our Faculty to cover a wide specialty teaching range. My numerous years of experience in the field, nationally and internationally, have taught me that investing in our residents is a priority. It is my personal mission to provide you with the best ophthalmic education and ensure that you become the future leaders of Ophthalmology. In addition, because we are located in the heart of Manhattan, at such a prominent and world class institution, I strongly feel that you will enjoy not only your education but also your resident life in New York City..

Thank you for your interest in NYU Langone, Department of Ophthalmology and we look forward to meeting you!
