Visiting Scholar Program

The Division of Medical Ethics announces a Visiting Scholar Program. The Division of Medical Ethics, directed by Arthur Caplan, PhD, has particular strengths in research ethics, sports ethics, transplant ethics, and clinical ethics. Beginning January 5, 2017, applications will be considered for visits of a minimum of one week and up to three months. Applicants should have a PhD, JD, an MD, or a master’s degree.

Selected individuals will have a desk and secretarial support at the Division, located in New York City. No funding will be provided, but the visiting scholar will be invited to participate in all Division activities. The Division cannot provide housing or funds for lodging or transportation, but it will assist those who are selected.

Visiting scholars will be chosen by a selection committee comprising Division and Affiliate Faculty members. To apply, send a CV and a short statement explaining why you wish to visit via email, with “Visiting Scholar” in the subject line, to the chair of the committee, David Alfandre, MSPH, MD, at There is no deadline for applications.
