NYU Grossman School of Medicine offers the 12-month postdoctoral fellowship within the ADHD and Disruptive Behavior Disorders Service and Early Childhood Service at the Child Study Center, part of Hassenfeld Children’s Hospital at NYU Langone.

Our postdoctoral fellowship, offered through NYU Langone Health’s Department of Child and Adolescent Psychiatry, is intended for psychologists who have successfully completed an American Psychological Association–approved internship and wish to refine their skills in behavior therapy, parent–child interaction therapy, and structured behavioral school observation and consultation for children with attention deficit hyperactivity disorder (ADHD) and disruptive behavior disorders.

The clinical director of the ADHD Service is Timothy L. Verduin, PhD. The clinical director of the Early Childhood Service is Stephanie M. Wagner, PhD.

Fellowship Training

As a postdoctoral fellow in the ADHD and Disruptive Behavior Disorders and Early Childhood Fellowship, you conduct parent management training, behavior therapy, cognitive behavioral therapy, group therapy and workshops, and school observation and consultation. You collaborate with psycho-pharmacologists, learning specialists, and other multidisciplinary team members at the Child Study Center and in school settings, and participate in the Early Childhood Service via assessment, consultation, and treatment of children 5 and younger.

In addition to these clinical responsibilities, you coordinate and attend a monthly ADHD seminar series, present assessment and treatment cases at the Department of Child and Adolescent Psychiatry’s interdisciplinary case conference, and attend weekly grand rounds, journal clubs, and other specialty trainings in areas of personal interest. You also help conduct webinars, media appearances, and workshops; seminars; and professional development events in New York City schools and other environments; and have opportunities to train and teach junior-level psychology trainees and psychiatry residents.

You gain advanced knowledge of psychological evaluation, treatment, and consultation and are eligible for state licensure upon completion of your fellowship. Currently, our trainees and faculty are offering services and attending training and administrative meetings both in-person and virtually.

The salary for this position is $70,000 and is commensurate with experience.
