Emergency Medicine Training for Medical Students Pathways in Emergency Medicine Summer Fellowship

Pathways in Emergency Medicine Summer Fellowship

The Ronald O. Perelman Department of Emergency Medicine at NYU Grossman School of Medicine is pleased to sponsor the Pathways in Emergency Medicine Summer Fellowship, which goes from June 22 to July 17, 2026. This four-week program is designed to support early exposure to emergency medicine for motivated preclinical medical students.

Our mission is to strengthen pathways into emergency medicine for students whose experiences and backgrounds bring valuable perspectives to patient care. We aim to cultivate a physician workforce prepared to care for diverse patient populations and communities through early exposure, mentorship, and academic enrichment in emergency medicine.

We encourage applications from first-year medical students who have demonstrated a commitment to service, community engagement, mentorship, and/or improving access to high-quality medical care, and who are interested in pursuing emergency medicine. The fellowship offers five funded positions, which include NYU housing, travel to New York City (up to $600), and a stipend of $750. All interested individuals are welcome to apply.

Program Opportunities

Didactic: Fellows will participate in procedure workshops, simulation-based health education sessions, social medicine initiatives, ultrasound workshops, resident conferences, journal clubs, lectures given by our faculty and residents, toxicology rounds, pediatric emergency medicine rounds, teaching sessions with high school students, and a wilderness medicine outing. Students will also be guided through an introductory asynchronous workbook on how to design, conduct, and interpret emergency medicine research.
