  1. Who is eligible to apply for the fellowship?
    Medical students between their first and second years of medical school
  2. Do applicants need extensive prior research experience?
    No, you do not require any previous experience, but a genuine interest in topics in Plastic Surgery.
  3. Does the program include clinical shadowing?
    No, the program is focused solely on research and does not include clinical shadowing. The time required for plastic surgery cases would significantly reduce the time available for research activities within the program's short duration.
  4. When does the program start?
    June 16th, 2025 ± 2 weeks. We will work with you based on your school’s schedule.
  5. Where does the fellowship take place, and are there remote options?
    This program is in person at the NYU School of Medicine. However, in the case of unprecedented health or environmental crises, we may alter the structure as we did during the COVID-19 pandemic.
  6. Can participants choose their own research projects?
    For clinical research, we encourage students to develop a project within the mentor’s active research areas. For basic/translational research, students typically join an ongoing study and develop ownership of a small study within the larger project.
  7. Is housing provided?
    No, we do not provide housing. However, we will have a network of resources available to help you find housing independently.
  8. Are travel expenses reimbursed?
    No, we do not cover travel expenses.
