Description
Clinical electives in the Department of Urology are offered for periods of two weeks. The elective is available at Tisch Hospital or the VA Medical Center. The elective offers didactic lectures in Urology by the attending staff, observation of Urologic Procedures, observation of outpatient urologic care and involvement in the daily hospital management of Urology patients. Emphasis is placed on maximizing the student's exposure to all aspects of Urology and interaction with faculty members.
Objectives of the Elective
Students will gain in depth exposure to outpatient urology, urologic surgery, inpatient care, and uro-radiology. Students will also gain knowledge in urologic subspecialty areas such as Uro-Oncology, Pediatric Urology, Female Urology, Stone Disease, Male Sexual Function and Fertility. This will help the student focus on a career choice.

Method of Evaluation
Evaluation is to be done by the preceptor based on clinical performance, fund of knowledge, histories and physicals, interest, response to instruction, behavior and interpersonal relationships, professional demeanor and reliability and maturity on a scale ranging from outstanding to inadequate.
