Pathophysiology of Organ Systems Elective

Course Description

This intensive two or four-week experience is designed to help students consolidate their understanding of key concepts in basic and clinical sciences, preparing them for future clinical applications.

You will be expected to utilize assessment data from your NBME Comprehensive Basic Science Self-Assessment (CBSSA) practice exams to develop a study plan that covers each week of the two or four-week experience.

The study plan may include use of the following:

  • First Aid textbook to provide a scaffold of content areas for study
  • Question banks (UWorld and/or Amboss) for assessment of progress on attainment of knowledge consolidation
  • Anki, or other flashcard resources, for content memorization
  • NYUGSOM Step prep videos and other resources located on the Readiness for Step 1 Brightspace page (Kerberos ID and password required for login)
  • Additional study resources

Key Responsibilities of the student while on Elective

  1. You must take an NBME CBSSA practice exam at the start of the Pathophysiology of Organ Systems.
  2. You are required to submit a study plan for review at the event initiation. 
  3. You are required to spend at least 35 hours each week engaged in knowledge consolidation.
