The Department of Neuroscience and Physiology includes basic science faculty members and clinicians from the NYU School of Medicine who share a goal of better understanding the workings of the brain and a robust interest in disease-related, translational research. The department has a strong legacy of research in systems neuroscience and continues to diversify as new faculty are added and new collaborations form within and across departments.
The department is made up of 20 faculty members with primary appointments. The 17 faculty members with secondary appointments come from an array of clinical and basic science departments, increasing the level interdisciplinary work that is produced by department-affiliated scientists.
