Vascular Neurology

Cen Zhang, MD, Director

Duration: 1- year. With NYU Langone Health’s one-year Accreditation Council for Graduate Medical Education (ACGME)-accredited fellowship in vascular neurology, fellows will be exposed to a variety of inpatient, outpatient, and critical care environments with a uniquely diverse patient population.

In addition to intensive training in the inpatient and outpatient management of a wide variety of cerebrovascular diseases, fellows will gain knowledge and experience across various areas of expertise:

  • Neurosonology, including the performance and interpretation of transcranial and carotid doppler ultrasonography
  • Neuroradiology, including the most up-to-date neuroimaging techniques for patients with acute neurologic disorders to make diagnoses and management decisions. Our interventional neuroradiology department is among the best and largest in the country with four full-time faculty members whose training backgrounds include diagnostic radiology, neurology, and neurosurgery.
  • World-class training in neurorehabilitation through our close collaboration with Rusk Rehabilitation
  • Exposure to critical care medicine, neurosurgical patients with cerebrovascular disease, and, of course, critically ill stroke patients through our dedicated neuro-ICU at Tisch Hospital. The neuro-ICU is led by a faculty of neurology-trained critical care physicians who help manage our sickest, most acute patients with neurological disease. The fellowship includes a one-month rotation within this unit.
