Jugal Shah, MD

Dr. Jugal Shah grew up in Central Islip on Long Island, NY. He attended the Massachusetts Institute of Technology, graduating in 2008 with undergraduate degrees in both nuclear science & engineering and biology. He then went west to receive his medical degree from the University of California, San Francisco. While in medical school, he completed a Howard Hughes Medical Institute Medical Research Fellowship in the laboratory of Dr. Arturo Alvarez-Buylla with research in adult neural stem cells, and earned an M.D. with Distinction in 2014. Outside of the hospital, Dr. Shah enjoys athletics and live music of all kinds. He returned to the East Coast because he believes that the NYU Neurosurgery Residency Program offers one of the best combinations of clinical autonomy, outstanding faculty, and teaching in the world.
