Admission & Application

The Department of Ophthalmology selects its residents through the SF Match Ophthalmology Matching Program. Residents are matched approximately 18 months prior to the starting date.

Application Procedure

Please contact San Francisco Match (details below) in order to register for the match and apply for the Central Application Service (CAS). The CAS will distribute your application to our residency program.

Candidates are asked not to send any materials directly to the NYU Department of Ophthalmology.

Applicants who have graduated from non-U.S. medical schoolsmust also provide the following:

  1. ECFMG/USMLE 2 test results
  2. valid ECFMG certificate
  3. HB1/J-1 green card
  4. passport
  5. birth certificate (if U.S. born)
  6. social security card (if U.S. born)
  7. proof of fulfillment of PGY-1 in the U.S.
