In general, applications for post-residency fellowships in NYU Langone’s Department of Pathology should be submitted by August 30 two years before the July 1 start date of the fellowship.

Fellowship programs adjust their deadlines as positions are filled, so please see individual fellowship pages for up-to-date details about when applications are being accepted.

Fellowship Application Requirements

Applicants must have completed a three-year anatomic pathology residency program accredited by the Accreditation Council for Graduate Medical Education (ACGME) or a four-year anatomic pathology and clinical pathology residency program accredited by the ACGME.

You must obtain a New York State license or limited permit before the fellowship start date, and possess sufficient qualifications for appointment to the medical staff.

NYU Langone offers J-1 visas to candidates in need of sponsorship exclusively through the Educational Commission for Foreign Medical Graduates (ECFMG).

How to Apply

All application materials, including recommendation letters, should be emailed to pathologyeducation@nyulangone.org.

Your email subject line should follow the format “Last Name, First Initial—Name of Fellowship”.

A complete fellowship application consists of the following documents saved as PDF files:

• a completed College of American Pathologists (CAP) application for pathology fellowships
• a personal statement
• your CV
• a copy of your medical school transcript
• MD candidates: a copy of your U.S. Medical Licensing Examination (USMLE) score reports for all three steps
• DO candidates: a copy of your Comprehensive Osteopathic Medical Licensing Examination of the United States (COMLEX-USA) score reports
• international candidates: a copy of your ECFMG certificate
• three letters of recommendation dated within the past six months and addressed to the director of the fellowship you are applying for
